Your Samuel Carson is probably the Samuel of Shelby County who was first married Mar. 20, 1817 in Shelby County to Martha Perkins, daughter of John Perkins. They had a number of children. Samuel's second wife was Matilda Swearingen, daughter of Van and Susannah (Greathouse) Swearingen of Shelby County (Matilda is my relative). They were married May 30, 1839 in Shelby County. Samuel and Matilda had no children.Major Samuel Carson, as he was known, died Nov. 30, 1867 and was buried in Grove Hill Cemetery at Shelbyville. I have been to the Carson burial lot in Grove Hill and unfortunately there are no tombstone on the lot. Samuel had a son by his first wife who was named James D. Carson and was 22 years old and unmarried in 1860. The Shelby County, KY marriages show that James D. Carson was married Aug. 21, 1860 to Keziah N. Parrish and that her father, Willis W. Parrish was bondsman.
