Carsons (and Smiths) of Stepney, London Docklands

I'm looking for someone who might know the origins of my gt gt gt grandfather John Carson, who was a mariner. He married Margaret Smith (daughter of Henry Smith, another mariner) at Spitalfields on 3 July 1808. They had 4 children: Mary Ann, Margaret, Charles David and Charlotte Margaret Theresa (my gt gt g'mother) between 1809 and 1816.
John may have died c. 1830, but I have no proof of this. Margaret his wife died 25 August 1861 in the Stepney Workhouse.
Mary Ann Carson married George Osborn c. 1830, a shoemaker of Bethnal Green. They had 5 children. Charlotte married James Gibbs in 1839 and left for New Zealand on the Arab in 1841.
I'd dearly love to find someone with some further knowledge of these families in England.
Where was John Carson born and when? Parents? When did he die?
For Margaret Smith, her parents were Henry Smith and Mary Newman. I've found their marriage in the IGI and their four kids baptisms, but have little or no further info other than Henry died in 1791.
Patrice
