My Carson family did come from Indiana, then to Illinois. Here's what I know about them:

Hugh Carson b Indiana abt1809, m Eliza Higginson( b abt1813. They were married in Edwards County, Illinois in 1830.
One of their children was Joseph B. Carson, b 1844 Richland, Illinois. Joseph married first wife around 1872 in Missouri, they had one known child, Richard Carson, b about 1873 in Missouri. The first wife died and Joseph married again to Emily Louise Gloade, 1884, in LaClede County, Missouri. Joseph and Emily had a son Wade Hampton Carson, b 1885, LaClede County, Missouri. Sometime after this Emily died and the family moved to Kansas where I found them in Barton County in 1900. Wade Hampton Carson, who was my ggrandfather, married Fanny Catherine Brady and they lived in Osawatomie, Miami County, Kansas where Wade died in 1943. I'm not sure what happened to Richard and Joseph B. Carson although I suspect that Richard was alive in 1934 and was married to someone named Lillie.

I know that Hugh Carson and Eliza Higginson had a number of children including one named John. Is this your Carson Family?
