SARA FRANCES CARSON
AUGUST 12, 1931 – AUGUST 18, 2010
ANDERSON, SC – Sara Frances Smith Carson, age 79, of 2417 Annandale Drive in Anderson, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.
She was born in Seneca on August 12, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Robert Elmer and Beatrice Watkins Smith and the widow of the late Herbert E. (Bert) Carson, Sr.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother, Robert E. Smith, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Kristine LeRoy.
Mrs. Carson is survived by her daughters: Sara Carson Kerwin and her husband, Michael of Williamston, and Susan Carson (Kris) Long of the home; sons: Herbert E. (Gene) Carson, Jr., and his partner, Ed Paquette of Atlanta, GA, Charles Robert Carson and his wife, Adriene of Long Island, NY, and Steven Allen Carson of Whitten Center, Clinton. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jason A. LeRoy and his wife, Ruth of Piedmont, Michael D. Long and his wife, Lisa of Pendleton, Brian C. Long of the home; Chelsea R. Carson and Nicole Y Carson of New York City; as well as great-grandchildren: Justin, Andrew, Matthew, and Lucas Long of Pendleton, Jacob Brown of Pendleton, and Josie Evalia LeRoy of Piedmont. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas G. (Jerry) Smith and his wife, Lillis of Greenville.
Mrs. Carson retired from Oconee Memorial Hospital where she was employed for over twenty years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, August 21, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Sara Kerwin, 103 South Academy Street, Williamston.
In lieu of flowers, it is Mrs. Carson's desire that memorials be made to Whitten Center, P.O. Drawer 239, Clinton, SC 29325.
