My family is also supposed to be directly descended from Christopher "Kit" Carson. Agnes was my grandmother and lived in the Pilot Mountain/Pinnacle area of NC when my dad, Gary, was born. Agnes had a sister, Dolly, and two half-sisters, Evelyn and Alice. There was also a brother, George Carson, but he disappeared back in the 1930's and was never heard from again.
Dolly was my grandmother too, though we learned in the late 1970's that she was really my great aunt. It was then that we learned that Agnes was my dad's real mother, but it was a family secret as to whom the father was. This information was sealed and we are still unable to access this information.
My dad was born out of wedlock and it was, apparently, a scandal back then. The dad was the first name on Agnes' wedding registry when she married Augustes Seletos in Delaware. This wedding registry has also disapeared.
Agnes' dad was named William Vernon Carson and he died in SC in 1959. Dolly was the one who told us were were descendants of Kit Carson...supposedly my great-grandfather 5 times back. I have been unable to match up the dates to make any sense of the lineage. I ran into too many William and Rebecca Carsons.
We are also connected to all of the Carson clan in the Pinnacle, NC area and they all say that they were descendants from Kit Carson.
I do have dates of births and deaths of the above-mentioned Carsons that I spoke of, but I will have to dig up the information. I will post the info as soon as I locate the information.
