Y-DNA testing for Carson surname
Posted by: Judy Ackerman (ID *****7206) Date: September 18, 2012 at 21:03:13

My brother had his Y-DNA test for 37 markers done by FamilyTreeDNA.com. Our line of Carsons tested out to be of the R1b1a2 Haplogroup. At only 12 markers tested, we had 40 PAGES of matches (0 steps) but when we looked at the next set of markers 25 and 37 markers.... we had no perfect matches (0 steps) and just a few with no more than 4 markers off from ours. Hopefully more CARSONS will take the Y-DNA (male direct line Carson only) so there will be more possibility of each different line finding their ancestors further back than we can with just documents. How many of you have taken this test at least at 37 markers?
