I have a James Benjamin Cartledge who died Oct. 24, 1918, at the age of seventy. This would make his birth date ca 1848, which would make him 22 in 1870. He resided in Edgefield County, SC, and is buried at the Gilgal Baptist Church. The obit article says he was survived by a son, but doesn't name the son. He was married to Emma E. Sullivan in 1872.
