I found your website very interesting. I have got Cartledges who were in Manchester at the time your ancestors were and was wondering if there was any connection. It is not a very common name and there are still very few of us in the Manchester area. My great great grandfather was Francis Cartledge who was born in 1836 or 1837, according to the 1881 census he was born in Manchester. Perhaps maybe you or your brother may have some information.
