I have a Joseph Cartledge who married Elizabeth Barnes in Manchester Cathedral in 1853. He was a painter and his father was called James and was a tailor. Is it possible that they were related, I havn't gone back any further at present so I don't know.
I should be able to check if you are right in thinking that Francis and Jane were brother and sister.
Manchester only have records for certain parts of Salford but will check if your address is listed.If so will try and find info for you on 1891 census.
Will let you know results asap.
