I know that it is 3 years since you posted this message butI am writing in the hope that you may still frequent this message board.

My G G Grandfather was John Cartledge who was tried in Sheffield and then transported to Hobart aboard the Earl Grey in 1842. His crime was for stealing lead. He married Sarah Cook in Hobart and the family moved to Buninyong (near Ballarat)in Victoria.

John's family in England has always been a brick wall for me. Could he be your Job's errant son?
