I have been searching for the parents of my 3rd ggrandmother, Sarah Hardy, probably of Edgefield, SC. I have searched in vain for a Sarah Hardy, anywhere, that would fit my gggmother.
Recently I stumbled across an internet site that listed a Sarah Hardy, the daughter of Mary Cartledge b. 15 Jul 1786 Columbia Co., GA and d. 18 Jun 1842 in Lowndes Co., AL. and William Hardy b. 23 Apr 1785 Edgefield Co., SS and died 24 February 1864 in Lowndes Co., AL.
Mary's oldest daughter was Sarah Hardy, b. 1807.
From Sarah (Hardy) Langley's family Bible she wrote, or had written for her, that her birthdate was 16 January 1807.
She married in Monroe Co., GA in the home of her (unamed) brother in 1826 or 7. A search of the 1828 Tax Digest of Monroe Co., GA showed several Hardy's of whom the most likely was William W. Hardy who coninued to live there for many years. William was from Edgefield, SC, lived in Lincoln Co., GA as well as Monroe Co. GA and ended up in Lowndes Co., AL. [I think that I have my facts straight.]
In any event this places her at the right time and place to be the daughter of Mary Cartledge daughter of Edmund Joseph (IV) Cartledge and Pheobe (Jacobs?).
However unlikely there could be another Sarah Hardy born in 1807 that I do not know about.
Do your records reveal anything on this matter? Your Assistance would be gratefully received.

Thank you so much.
Charley C. Langley Jr

But other sources state that she married someone else.
