Hi Roger,
Not sure if this is your cartledge or not but i am researching William Michael Cartledge who was a sliversmith (im pretty sure in London)William had a son Henry who married Jane Garrett and moved to Australia in 1849. Is this your Cartledge line? I believe William's wife Mary Warburton was born in Nottinghamshire.
