"Polly" was used at least on two occasions as nicknames for "Mary" in the Cartledge family. Mary "Polly" Cartledge, daughter of Edmund and Sarah Cartledge, born in 1784, married a Mr. ___Robertson in 1802 and married again in 1826 to Joseph Jacobs.

Mary "Polly" Blanchard, daughter of Sarah Cartledge and Reuben Blanchard, born in 1789 in Columbia Co., GA, married Josiah Roberts.

I wrote earlier about the other Mary who married Mr. Hardy. I don't have any others that might match, but I don't have complete lists of children of the Cartledge family in SC. Good luck!
