Darlene,I'll try to make this as short yet as convincing as possible.I have chapter 1 of Rev. Abiah Cartledge Sr.'s autobiography. He was the Grandson of Rev. Samuel Victor Cartledge the Revolutionary war Soldier National Number 503708 General Services Administration R1790.
Also I have in front of me DAR papers that list Rev.Samuel Cartledge's children,They are:Isaiah Cartledge, John V. Cartledge,Victor Cartledge, Elizabeth Cartledge, William Cartledge, Mary Cartledge, Samuel Cartledge Jr.
The Father of Samuel Cartledge was Joseph Cartledge - the family is from Wales
I am related to Rev. Samuel through his John Vickers Cartledge and his wife Mariah Ann Morgan.Their son, Rev Abiah Cartledge, was my Grandmother's grandfather and she knew him for 15 years before he died.I have many of his (Abiah) letters, newspaper clippings, articles written about Samuel and his brother James, a Captain in the American
Revolution.Rev. S. V. Cartledge preached for ten years in Georgia and for 60 years in South Carolina where my Grandmother was born.Samuel was born in 1750 and died 1843 from the fall off a horse at the age of 93.I don't know anything more about Mary. The two wives of Rev. Samuel V Cartledge were Elizabeth m. circa 1781 in Georgia and Nancy m.circa 1817 in South Carolina.
If you'd like any more of anything I have on the Cartledge's let me know.I'd love to share.Just remember they are Welch (Abiah said he was a "full bloded Welchman)- some have them linked to some English King and I don't buy that.
