Cheryl, there is a strong possibility that we are related, but I am having trouble reconciling the names (same names but wrong dates). My great-grandfather's name was also George, but he was a generation earlier than than your great grandfather. My father's name is Edwin, born in New York in 1915.
My grandfather was born around 1880.He had a brother named George, but uncle George lived most of his life in the U.S., and was a bachelor (at least to my knowledge). My great-grandmother was named Laura Albertha Shaw. She was born on Nevis. They were married in the Anglican Church in Gingerland, Nevis. My grandfather was born at West Farm on St. Kitts. He emigrated to the U.S. when he was in his early 20's.Two brothers, Alwyn and George followed within a few years.
They all lived in Bellmore, Long Island during the 1930's and 40's.
I have some more specific information around, but I can't lay my hands on it at the moment.
Do you have any other information about your great-grandfather?Uncle George would have been born around the mid 1880's, but as I said earlier, I remember him as a shy old bachelor.I knew him from my childhood (1940's) until he died, which I recall wasduring the early 1970's.
You can get to me direct at [email protected] would be interested to hear more of your story.
