Hi Lee,

John Carwile (my gggrandfather) of Autauga County and Zachariah of Autauga County are brothers. They are sons of David Carwile, also of Autauga County. It is believed that David is a son of Zachariah Carwile of South Carolina. I have no proof of that at this time. The Carwile/Callaham book by Ann Diehls has some limited information on David's family, some of which I think contains errors.

On 7 September 1846, Zachariah presented David's Will to the Autauga Co. Orphans Court. Citations of notification were issued to John T. Carwile, Mary Livingston wife of George Livingston, Malissa Johnson wife of Robert Johnson and Neal Harrell who was the husband of Sarah Carwile - deceased. They had two children, Sarah Jane and Barton. All of the above were resident heirs of the estate. Nonresident heirs were Catharine Peeples, Wm. Carwile, David Carwile, Elizabeth Irvin (wife of Jno. Irvin), Susanha Sandford, and Jane Nelson (wife of Wm. Nelson).

The "book" does not list all of these heirs. Also the book lists John Carwile's wife as Mary Livingston. If so, he also had a sister Mary who was married to George Livingston. The book also states that Malissa was married to Neil Harrel Johnson, another error.

I have that Phebe married James McCord son of Johnson McCord and Sarah Ann Kelley and a little more additional information on that family.

Contact me so we can exhange info.
