Hello Margaret,
Just about everything I have on my Grandmother's line, from the time before 1850 Federal Census records, is from the Callahan Carwile book. An exception is the DAR record on Zachariah. He is mentioned in the DAR Patriot Index Volume 1, page 564 of the Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files, pension file #S9310.
As I live in Wisconsin, and am not traveling to South Carolina, my research is limited to what I can verify using online sources.
You mentioned a book of records in the Genealogy section of your library. Could you pass on the name of this book?
You also mention that your GGGrandmother is the daughter of a William McMahan of Greenville District. Could you also supply me with the source which shows this relationship?
Lawrence Houston
