Decendents of Jose Maria Casanova Monroy -Hatillo PR.
I am related to Jose Maria Casanova Monroy (my Great Grandfather) my mother is Carmen Casanova born to Fidela La Comba in Hatillo in 1937. She was one of the many individuals born out of wedlock to Jose Casanova- His son, one of the first Mayors of Hatillo.
Anyway, I hired a genealogist in Spain and paid him to fly to Tenerife and research the family history and see how far he can trace it (it wasn’t cheap but invaluable at the end). After several months of research, he returned with a 42 page report. The last ancestor going to the 1200's. Unfortunately the Casanova baptismal book burned in a church fire in the early 1700’s but; in particular, it is able to incorporate other Casanova descendants (maternal) of Bentor, the last indigenous King of Tenerife, and on the Riverol family, a clan of Renaissance-era bankers with Canarian descendance. It also adds data taken from an exceptionally valuable primary source, which comprises wills and deeds executed by local residents with bequests to the monks. Finally, it incorporates the ancestry connection to Maciot de Béthéncourt, the French knight who established the Canarian branch of the family.
If anyone would like a copy of the invaluable research I funded which includes very interesting will information and structures that still exist in Spain. Let me know. I will ask for some payment for the 800 years (23 Generations) worth of information I gathered---as I’m sure you can understand. Please e mail me at [email protected] if you are interested to purchase the report for $125.00 via PayPal. The research is also charted to you can see the family lines clearer.
Thanks,
Sabastian
