Following is the obit for Laura C. Hayes, wife to Payton Casner from the newspaper 'Severyite'. This was sent to me in a packet of information from out of Greenwood Co., KS where some of my Casners also settled. I am posting this in the event descendants of this line might be interested.

CASNER--At her home in the south part of Severy, at 4 a.m. last Friday morning., Oct. 15, 1909, at the age of 62 years.

Laura C. Hayes was born near Chillocothe, Ill., in 1847; was married to Payton Casner at LeRoy, Kansas, Feb. 22, 1863. Mr. and Mrs. Casner came to Severy when the town was organized in 1880 and have made this their home since. Mrs. Casner was known by all the old settlers and for a number of years was the only music teacher in our city and many of the best musicians of our city took their first lessons from her. For the past few years she has been quite feeble and very seldom seen up town. Her husband and son survive her.

Funeral servies were held from the home last Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Rhodes. Interrment in Twin Groves cemetery."
