In doing some quick searching, the Ben Casner found on the 1880 Lamar County, TX census is apparently the same A.B.C. Casner who died on 3-8-1886 in Lamar County and is buried in the Rockford Cemetery.

There is record of a Martha E. Casner who married a J. W. Tanner in 1887 in Lamar County. A volunteer lookup person checked the Lamar County records for me and could find no death records nor marriage records for the two sons (Henry Clay and John) in Lamar County. Nor was a death record found for Martha E. Casner Tanner. In all probability they moved on to another place.

Perhaps after M. E. Casner married the Tanner person, the two sons took the Tanner name. Might be worth a try searching the census records for them under the name of tanner.
