I recently obtained copies of church records for my great great grandfather. The records also contain the names of his parents and the date of their marriage, his mother's baptism, and burial records for his parents.
According to these records, my great great grandfather's father's name was Joseph Cozenger. His last name is listed as Cozenger, Cossinger, and Cosner. It is finally listed as Casner in the burial records. My great great grandfather's last name is listed as Cosner in the baptismal record.
A church secretary informed me the records were transcribed from other records which were destroyed. I don't see how you can transcribe Casner as Cozenger or Cossinger. I can see someone mistaking an a for an o and writing Cosner instead of Casner.
Has anyone else ever come across the names Cozenger of Cossinger in connection with the Casner name?
