I don't know if there is any connection between our Casner lines, but my Casner ancestors were living in NJ in the early 1800s. My great great great grandparents were Joseph and Alice Casner (maiden name Mount). Joseph and Alice first appear on the federal census record in 1850 in NJ. I have no information on Joseph's parents or his siblings.
I am also interested in learning the origin of the Casner name. I have been told it is a version of the German name Kastner, Kassner, etc. Since there are many people with the Casner name in the U.S., I think it would be unusual for so many people to change their name from Kastner, Kassner, etc. to Casner.
It seems there are many Casners living in the midwest and western states.
