Casner Brick Wall

I am trying to research my Casner line to the first Casner who came to America. I am also trying to find out the original spelling of the name. I have hit a brick wall. The last Casner in my direct line that I can find is Joseph Casner. The information I have is that he was born in NJ and died in NJ in 1888. He was born around 1811. He is buried at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Spotswood.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to trace Joseph's parents and continue going back until I find the first Casner from this line to come to America.
