Caspary Family Genealogy Forum
I stumbled into this forum by pure coincidence! Great! It appears that the Caspary or Caspari last name is not uncommon in Germany where my father informs me of a Caspary brewery and other Caspary businesses. Others have confirmed his story. Our story is one of pure immigrants. My great grand father Rijard Caspary was born around 1875 in what is now Elk in the Masurian Lakes Region of Eastern Prussia (now Poland) attended medical school in Koenisgberg (now Kalinigrad). I don't have the exact year of his birth or any other way to find out but would like to know how. Dr. Caspary was recruited in or around 1898 or 1900 to be the Dr. of the huge rubber plantations that sprouted in the tropics of Bolivia, South America in early 1900s. At that time, the main rubber town had a symphony and was frequently visited by artists from Paris and London so life was not bad. To make a long story short, there are a number of Casparys in Bolivia. We ourselves emigrated to the US in 1979 and I have wanted to find a way to search further for our ancestors. Since our line is not from the ones immigrating to the US, it has been very difficult. in one case, we were informed that the Russians perhaps burned all the records in E Prussia in 1944-45. If anybody out there can point on how to get info from now Poland or the University in Kalinigrad on this, I would appreciate it. But in any case, nice that this forum exists. regards,
Jorge Rijard and brothers Hans and Werner Caspary.
