Caspary Long Shot in SC
Posted by: Lisa Robinson Martin Date: July 18, 2000 at 10:10:18

I am looking for a needle in a hay stack.

My Grandfather (Jacob)changed his name during his lifetime at least once. When born he was 'Jacob Robinson Cohen'.

To make a long story short, I have found legal papers using 'Jacob Caspary Robinson' as his new name.

In our family the males use their mothers maiden name as the middle name. So, I am thinking he took his Grandmothers maiden name when he changed his, since his last name was changed to his mothers maiden name.

       1        [1] Isaac Cohen       b: Abt. 1868
.              +Rae Robinson       b: Abt. 1871 in Charleston(?), South Carolina (sister of Dora)
......       2        Jacob Robinson Cohen       b: February 28, 1892 in New York
..........              +Chaya Sorah (Sadie) Schnoll       b: August 08, 1896 in Vienna or Galecia, Austria
*2nd Wife of [1] Isaac Cohen:
.              +Dora Robinson       b: in Charleston(?), South Carolina (sister of Rae)

......       2        Arthur Cohen
......       2        Minnie Cohen       b: Abt. November 23, 1895
..........              +Ira Friedman       b: Abt. January 26, 1893

Dora & Rae are supposed to also have a brother named Henry.

So what I am thinking is Dora, Rae & Henry's mother would be a CASPARY.

If any of these names ring a bell, please email me.

Thanks, Lisa
