Yes, I'm Christopher's gg grandson (via Walter and his second wife Helen Swanson).

Christopher's daughter Elizabeth, my father's Aunt "Bee", wrote the following: "The name Castleton was originally Kazenstein - Still a castle in Germany or Austria by that name. Chris' mother was a Baroness - Chris ran away to avoid being drafted in the army - came to America and changed his name to Castleton. Married Louisa Anna Davis. Her side goes back to the Maryion line - Alfred the Great. Woolrich was a family name and still one in the House of Commons."

My father said - late in life - that he descended from the Von Kaltensteins. Having grown up during WWII there was a stigma about being of German descent and it was not something he readily shared.

There are a number of Von Katzensteins and a couple of castles bearing that name. Stein means Stone. Katzen is Cats. Kalten is Cold. Rabbit is Karinchen. To my knowledge there are no Karinchensteins.

How did you make the linkage to Chris having a father named Walter?
