The "fact" that Chris' father was Walter came to me from a cousin, Duke Castleton, son of William Homer Castleton who was the son of Everett and Lucy Schwartz Casleton. Everett was a son of Christopher. I don't know if it was fact or family hearsay. I will send you the email addresses privately of two other Castleton cousins who are currently working on the family although maybe not that hard. They are interested. I have a photo of Chris and Louisa also that I will send you. The 1860 census for Jackson Co. IL says Chris was born in NY which partly coincides with what George Casleton told me...he said Chris was born in Herkimer Co. NY. But that doesn't match what your family history says, that he fled Germany and came to America. Is that history substantiated other than by your family oral tradition? Have you ever found a ship's record of his arrival? This is rarely easy, is it? : )
