Thanks for your message. I am doubtful whether your CASTONS are the same as mine. You say they are early CASTONS, can you give me a time frame please? My family were ag.labs and carpenters mainly, certainly not landed gentry. The family rumour is that the first Norfolk CASTON was actually CASTRO and arrived in Norfolk aboard one of the ships in the Spanish Armada. The story goes he was a cook and was either pushed, fell or jumped overboard in the Wash area. I haven't found anything to back this up, and frankly am doubtful if I ever will. I have got back to the end of the C18th with my direct line. They came from north Norfolk, around Briston and Cley.
