My line of Cathcarts, too came from Ireland. Samuel Cathcart sailed from Belfast and landed in Charles Town, S.C. in 1768 when he was 23 years old, making him born around 1745. We have no record of what family our Samuel came from but they are possible related, however with the age difference it would have to be a father or grandfather. I am sorry I can't help you but I beg of you, if you hear of a long lost Samuel Cathcart born in 1745, please let me know. Best wishes, Annabelle in Texas.

Looks like we share some generations.
I may have some info incorrect, but searching by my uncle and I show us descending from Samuel, born 1745 in Antrim.
Samuel had a son named James Wesley, born Sep 21, 1803, died Dec 18, 1886.
The son of James Wesley was John Robert or John Calhoun. (?), born Jan 17, 1837, died Jan 10, 1900.
John married Mary Jane O'Shields. Mary was born Oct 4, 1836, died Aug 15, 1896.
John and Mary's had a son named Richard Dixon Cathcart, born May 14, 1862, died Aug 28, 1915.
Richard married Lillie Lucindy Owens. She was born Mar 8, 1879 and died Aug 13, 1961.They had a son named Willis Owens (W.O.) Cathcart, Sr.
W.O. lived many years in Greenville, SC and Mebane, NC.He was my grandfather.
Would like to feel in with any info you may have. Thanks in advance.
