Hi!
I share your view entirely. I am just starting to try to piece together my family history so I don't really know a lot however. I know that All the Cathcarts originated in the west of Scotland but then one branch emigrated to Northern Ireland (My branch) and the other branch stayed in Scotland and became Lords and had places named after them etc. (I guess thats just my luck!) But anyway the furthest back I have got so far is my Great Grandfather (Jim) Who was born in Londonderry but then moved to Greenock (Scotland). However I do know that he is one of a long line of Irish Cathcarts however I don't know much more.
Keep me posted!
Love Helen
