I've been researching at the Fulton, New York Public library again...
What I found was that Grace Cathcart and John Greene must have married
between 1935 and 1938. She was a book keeper for Foster Bros Cutlery in
1938. John was VP and sec at that time. In 1935 Grace Cathcart was a sten
for F B & C. John was Vice Pres at Foster Bros. & Chatillon and lived at
Lewis hotel. In 1922-23 Grace Cathcart was a student boarding at 509 Pratt
and John G Green was acct at F B & C living at Hotel Clark and then Iroquois
Club (1923). Between 1923 and 1925 John Greene became Vice Pres at Foster
Bros Cutlery. He lived at 202 S Third between 1925 and 1927. Grace Cathcart
lived at 506 Lyon during that time. In 1962 The Greene's lived at 299 W
River Road N. with their two son's John G, Jr and Robert E. Both boys were
students. It is my guess that John G, Jr is the oldest child. I did not
get farther than 1962 in the directories as of yet. But I plan on looking
further into where John G, Jr disappeared to. I sent a letter to Robert E
at his address in Minoa, NY June 24, 2002.
1953 is when my grandfather Richard Naylor Colegrove Armstrong showed up in
the Fulton Directory with his wife Gertrude B Cathcart. He worked at
Sealright and they lived at 423 second. 1955 they lived at 265 Fitch. By
1958 they moved to 413 Fremont where they remained until Richard's death in
1960. I'd like to find out where Richard and Gertrude may have met.
The only other Cathcart I found in the Fulton Directory was Jennie (or
Janice?) Cathcart chiropractor 218 S Fourth 1942. The same lady is listed
as widow of Richard J. 221 Cayuga 1948, 1955, 1958, and 1962.
I am not sure who this Richard J Cathcart is....
Anyway, this gave me a lot more to go on... Now I can start looking for
High School pictures and maybe Newspaper articles on these people. Any additions or comments are very welcome!
