We have the following info - William seems to have been the first Cathcart to come to Cape Breton - the following generations repeat the names William, Mathew, Michael, John, and Allan.

Is there a "missing link" in your family info - possibly a William born in the late 1700's who would have been of marrying age about 1801?

1. William Cathcart. William died aft 1838 in Lingan, Nova Scotia.

On 29 Oct 1801 William married Bridget Lee, in Saint George's Anglican Church, Sydney.

They had the following children:
2 i. Matthew (~1804->1881)
ii. Nancy. Born ca 1802.

iii. Michael. Born ca 1812 in Lingan, Nova Scotia. Michael died aft 1881, he was 69.

The next few generations seemed to marry mostly within the Irish community in Cape Breton.

We don't know where William was before Cape Breton.
