Hello Vincent,
This is my second attempt to reply, the first time we had a power cut...the ghost of James Chester Cathcart...who didn't want his past looked in to!!
The english Cathcarts are descended from the above ,son of Michael Cathcart and Mary Murphy.
One thing that has always bothered them is the skeletons in James Chesters closet! He had six children with Elsie Robinson and lived , except when away for 'work', as man and wife, however they didn't marry untill just before his death on 25th July 1962 in Westminster, London.
The children of James Chester and Elsie beleve he was already married and being a catholic would not divorce...are they right?
James however was a great story teller and also told them he lost his arm in a battle with red indians...which they knew was nonsence! He probably lost it when in the services , a tradition which has been passed down to all of his desendants.
The english side have always felt a little cut off from their roots due to this veil of secrecy prevaled on them by James Chester. A group of them did travel to Nova Scotia to look up old sites and feel the land a few years ago.
They were also told that Michael Cathcart died in a incident with a pit horse or pony...any truth? This they were told led to the children being split up some going off to stay with relatives in the states.
Any way they are all very exited to find their relatives on the other side of the pond...and tentavly wait to find out if James Chester was married prior to Elsie Robinson , and if so are there children!!
I will now gather all of their details to pass on to you.
Many thanks, regards , Simon.
