Annabella,
I may have been very presumptuous in assuming all Cathcarts originated in Scottland. That however, is where my family roots originated.
There could have been other Cathcarts who moved from Scottlant to Ireland or even the other way around. The Cathcart name has a long and rich history in Scottland. I do suspect that it's very likely that most Irish Cathcarts could track their family lines back to Scottland.
Regarding timing of the events, I'm at a loss to be more helpfull. Sorry.
