I'm a James Leander Cathcart enthusiast so it's great to hear you are doing the biography. I don't have any early bio info for you beyond what I am sure you already know. I do have access to the Louisiana and Alabama Journal of 1819, but you probably have already seen that at some point. Fascinating document.

I am a professor down here at Louisiana State University and am writing a book on the 19th Century which has some J.L. Cathcart moments. If you have the time and inclination I would love to hear more about your project.

Anyway, don't know if I was any help but good to hear the Cathcart family is still producing writers.
