Hello James,I think youd be well served to start your search in Maury Co.,Tn. and check with the Census reports
from 1790,1800,1810,1820...then do the same in Buncome,
Burke,Haywood,Mechlenburg,and Anson Counties in N.C.,after
you've checked these you should have most of the scoop on your Cathey's. Incidently, I am also researching the Md.,
Va,N.C.,Tn,Ky. Cathey's as well,it is almost as bad as doing
research on McDowell's and Crowes and Hixsons, but at least
McDowell's are getting it together, and have started a new
DNA Project that is going very well, and have uncovered to
everyone's amazement, that they now have "7" distinct Family
lines so far, with a couple of them being very Unique indeed!
Do the Cathey's plan to do a DNA Project? It would be a
wonderful thing, you know, and really place the lines in order
and give answers that have otherwise been elusive,or shown out of Context through translation. The Community that's
Maury County Tn. where the Cathey's lived would of course
be called "Cathey's Creek,Tn.",named after the George Cathey
Land Pattends to Him and I think William Cathey, hope this
is some help to you! Chuck McDowell
