Folks:
My name is Everett Henry Cathey. I have written articles for the Cathey Kith and Kin Newsletter for ten (10) years under the name Henry Cathey. One article took 6 months to write, I am not a good writer; Mathematics and the Physical Sciences; geology and physics especially come naturally, I have university degrees in all the subjects mentioned plus history. I was a college teacher and professor for more than 30 years.
All the articles mentioned above are based on documents, usually primary one, that means raw data. My book, Colonial Catheys, a survey book of about 260 pages, is based on raw data and also secondary data, that is, usually history books written by professional in many academic fields. Survey books by their very nature are best written based on secondary sources.
Most Cathey original immigrants were Scots-Irish,they came through Ireland, lived there for years, we do not know how many years, before coming to America. The evidence is found in many, many, many places. My book has approximately 150 references for example. It is not possible to even list the references that confirm this conclusion.
A Mr. White has produced a new book that claims Catheys came directly to America from Scotland and dates our origin back to 1507. There are many problems with his ideas. One of them is that he will or cannot give us the raw or secondary information we need to verify his ideas. He gives vague directions such as parish records or the Pennsylvania Archives and NO specifics.
The exchanges below are an attempt to obtain the source of his ideas. We have not received valid documentation. Please note he talks a lot about proofs and variations of prove, but underneath he does not give proofs or specifics. He basically covers up his lack of documentation by writing proved or variation thereof.
