Forts on the Catawba; Cathey/Cathy, Wofford

Reports on line suggest that "Cathey's/Cathy's Fort" was later known as "Wofford's Fort". Actually there were two forts; a reference in Arthur McFalls (McFauls) pension application (W9187) mentions a man riding from one of these forts to the other.

The pension application of Arthur McFalls (McFauls) (W9187) describes his three tours stationed at the fort in Turkey Cove on the N Fork of the Catawba known as Wofford's Fort. Arthur McFalls reported he was at this fort when they were attacked by 33 Indians. That night, they sent a man on horseback to Cathy's Fort on the Catawba for reinforcement.
