George Henry Cathey (b1850, MO) descendants

I am looking for information regarding George Henry Cathey, born April 1850 in Blue, Jackson Co, MO, to Robert C and Sarah (Noland) Cathey. I have found a marriage record on 5/18/1879 to a MRS. Carrie A Daning and numerous census records in Kansas from 1885 to 1915; however, I suspect that at least one and maybe both of his "children" listed on the 1885 KS state census, Eugene and George William, are actually his wife's children from a previous marriage (or two?) due to the following:

Both "sons" are listed on the 1885 KS census with birth years prior to the parents' marriage (Eugene, age 17, b. about 1868; George, age 11, b. about 1874). 1880 Census at Kaw, Jackson, MO, shows a Henry Calby with wife Carrie, her two sons Munroe & Eugene Denning, ages 16 and 13 (b. about 1864 & 1867) respectively, and their son George Calby, age 6 (b. 1874). Carrie's age and birthplace of Pennsylvania match later KS census records (for the Cathey family), & Eugene and George's ages match the 1885 census - although 1880 shows Eugene's birth in Pennsylvania whereas the 1885 KS census shows Ohio. If "Calby" on the 1880 census is actually a misspelling of Cathey (George Henry often went by Henry), George William would still have been born 5 years prior to George Henry's marriage to Mrs. Carrie (aka Caroline) Daning or rather Denning (Her son Munroe, aka James M Denning, married in MO in 1888 then moved to Indiana by 1892 and then Ohio by 1920; Eugene apparently died by 1910 as noted in mother's 1910 census).

I believe George William used the name Cathey (perhaps was adopted by Robert's son George Henry) and married Ida Gertrude Bousman. They resided in Shawnee, Johnson Co, KS. However, with the many Catheys, I am uncertain if this George W who married Ida is the same as the George "Cathey" listed as George Henry and Carrie's son.

Does anyone have better information on this line? George Henry Cathey would be my mother-in-law's great-grand-uncle. His sister Anna M Cathey (1852 - 1911), who married Joseph Connelly (1838-1929), was my mother-in-law's great-grandmother. I only recently untangled my in-law's mistaken idea that Anna was a Chapman. Both Anna and George Henry were listed as "Chapman" on the 1860 and 1870 Census with their mother Sarah (Noland) and her second husband Madison Chapman. Anna's death certificate shows her maiden name as Cathey, however, and lists her father and mother as Robert Cathey and Sarah Noland (Informant was Anna's son, Fred P. Connelly). As to Anna and George Henry's parentage, I have found reaffirmation on this forum.

I would be grateful for whatever information anyone may have on Anna's brother's family.

Thanks,
Diane
