Cathey Family

My great grandfather's name was Harry Saxon Cathey, 1892-1991. He told us his father's name was Laban (John Labon Cathey, he said his mother was Mary Neal, and he was related to the Catheys of the Steele Creek area of Mecklenburg Co??, NC (and he thought he was born there). He had two older sisters, Annie and Florence (married name Caudle). Evidently Florence & Harry were abandoned at a young age and were taken to Thompson orphanage in Charlotte. He refused to say much more about his childhood. No genealogy searches have turned up a Laban Cathey. If this rings a bell with anyone out there with knowledge of the Steele Creek Catheys, please reply!
