A George Cathey appears in the 1881 Census in Dereham, Oxford South, Ontario. The head of household was Joseph Esseltine. I'm not certain he is the Civil War Veteran. He was lieutenant enlisted in company C, Michigan Infantry.
A George Cathey is buried in Oakfield Township, Kent County, Michigan. He died in Rockford, Kent County, Michigan 1928.
There is a record for a George Cathey residing in Newfield, Oceana, Michigan in 1880. His wife Mary was born in New York. His father was born in Ireland.
The birth record for a George A. Cathey Jr. has the mother Catherine (born in Wisconsin). That birth was in 1892 in Courtland, Kent County, Michigan.

Are these Walter's descendants?
