The Robert Reed in my message is the one you are looking for. Here are the notes that I have for Robet Reed:
There may have been other children
Died before doc. date
per the Olde Meck Gen Soc Jrl., a Robert Reed marr nancy agnes
Nancy Agnes Cathey marr a Robt Reed from NC c. 1739 (circa 1729?)
they had dau Mary Reed who marr Andrew Strain c. 1770
Change of dates per note from Robert Reed of CO 8/09. Also show more childern.
Occupation: Farmer. Can read and write.
1778 Rowan Co. Tax List: Assests valued at 125 Pounds; Jan 1779 was living in Lincoln Co., NC when he enlisted in the North Carolina Militia. Revolutionary War Soldier in NC Militia. Pension S32471
Elizabeth was a widow who owned 300 acres in Burke Co., NC. Because Robert lived on her land, his name never appears in land records.
16 Oct 1835 St. Claire Co. US Land Patent.
Robert's wife Elizabeth Cathey's first husband was Robert Cain. They had 2 children: Robert Cain II & Daniel Cain.
I have a Robert Reed, b: 1782 d: 25 Jul 1814 in Niagra Falls, Canada, also a son of Robert Reed & Elizabeth Cathey Reed.

Your Robert's father was: Robert Reed who died in 1765. His wife was Agness (Last name unknown) who died in 1800.
This info is Per Note from Robert Reed of CO 8/09, who died last year.
