I'm so very sorry you lost your father....
I am from a Cathey in-law family - the Brandons and Catheys seem to have come over from Ulster to Pennsylvania together, intermarried in Ireland, in PA and in North Carolina. Although most of my work was with the esteemed Dr. Henry Cathey (recovering himself right now), your dad's book helped me greatly as coordinator for the Family Tree DNA Brandon group.
I made a number of trips to consult it at the library - our nation's Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
I'm a traveler myself - and a technology fan. When you described the evolution of the Cathey genealogy community into a physically moving network, I saw some electronic board like the Paris metro uses, only it's an app for bringing families together!
