David:
I have information collected from historical writings and some research that Joseph McDowell son of Charles McDowell was also the step-son of George Cathey, Sr upon his marriage to Jane/Jean McDowell.Geo Cathey, Jr was executor of will of Charles McDowell. Mary Cathey d/o George Sr. married Joseph McDowell prior to Joseph's mother's marriage to George, which made them H & W and step-siblings.Joseph was murdered and Mary married Joseph's brother Andrew.
The Cathey's and McDowells came to American on the troubled voyage "The George & Ann" George Cathey to PA, Augusta VA and first settler in Anson at McDowell fort on Catawba River with Gen Griffith Rutherford.
I am not a researcher of the Cathey or McDowell family, but could probably get more information from notes collected if needed. I would like more information on Richard Graham, Jr bro & sisters, Uncles etc or anyinformation on Graham family connection to Catheys line.
Dennis
