Hiram Withrow Keator (Cator), Sr., b. 9 Sep. 1817 (Rhinebeck, NY) bpt. (St. Peters?) d. 21 Apr. 1903 (Chicago, IL). He adopted the phonetic spelling of the surname, and about the middle of the century moved to Wisconsin, where we find him listed in the 1850 U.S. Census as a lumberman, residing at a hotel in Janesville (county seat of Rock County). He later took up farming in what is now Center township.
