This is a follow-up response. I have additional information which would seem to support the fact that Hiram W. Cator, Sr. was married twice. This information comes from the Federal Census Schedules for Rock County, Wisconsin.

An earlier census schedule shows the first wife as Lucy M Kimball. Additional information from Rock County shows Lucy's father as John Kimball and mother as Lucy Richardson.

The 1860 census shows wife as Melvina Pendell, born ca 1835 in Vermont. Betsey D. Pendell is listed as mother-in-law. No further information found to date. Also, note there is a 5-6 year time gap between the birth of Hiram W. Cator, Jr. and George M. Cator. Children by Lucy M. Kimball are John W., Lucy M., and Hiram W. Children by Melvina Pendell are George M., Harry M., and Charles I.

Would you care to comment or provide additional information on this.
