Today while searching around Rootsweb.com for other relatives I couldn't believe my eyes when in an 1850 Elkhart, Indiana Census I saw the name Caughman.
This is the info that they had listed.
Joseph Caughman age 53 Farmer 1200 acres born in Virginia.
Elizabeth Caughman age 47 born PA
Susan Caughman age 20 b. OH
Mary Caughman age 17 b. OH
William Caughman age 14 b. OH
Sarah Caughman age 12 b. IN
Christian Caughman age 9 b. IN
also listed but not listed with this family grouping was an M. Caughman age 25 a farmer b. OH. I feel he is probably Joseph's son as his age fits in and so does his birth place. Elkhart, IN is way up north in the state near the Michigan line.
