FIRST ACROSS THE OREGON TRAIL-SOMEONE MUST KNOW HIM: Rev. James Cave
Posted by: Thomas V. Atkins (ID *****7977) Date: February 10, 2009 at 17:26:47
  of 1276

He was my 4GG. He was born in 1767, possible in Pike County, IL, and reportedly died in 1861, in OR. He was one of the handful of members of the Great Emigration of 1843- the first group to follow entirely the new Oregon Trail. His wife was Rebecca Crump, the mother of James Cave, Jr. and William Cave. All I know is that she died in 1844, in Hopewell, OR, and is buried in the cemetery there. I am seeking James' and Rebecca's parents and any other antecedent information. Van Atkins/mavarnee@yahoo.com
