Dear Mr. Thomas W. Rogers:
Recently, your excellent research into the Cave(s) family ancestry came to my attention when I was attempting to research my own genealogy on the genforum.genealogy.com message boards.
My great grandmother was Hattie Rosetta Caves. She was supposedly the daughter of Merritt Henry Cave and Jenny Swisher.Merritt and Jenny were my gg grandparents. Hattie Rosetta Caves must have been born about 1880 or shortly thereafter, probably in Missouri.
I am writing to you in hopes that you may have more information on Merritt Henry Cave and/or Jenny Swisher and their ancestors.I did see on the message board that you believe Merritt's father was also named Merritt and his mother was Catherine "Kitty" Rush.
Were you ever able to trace any further back?Have you been able to determine the birthdate of the 1st Merritt, the father of Merritt Henry Cave born in 1852?
Any information that you might have would be deeply appreciated and I would be very grateful.
Sincerely,
Robert Chancellor
