Lucy Cawley, Salford, UK
I have what I believe to be a mystery Cawley in the family, and wonder whether anyone can shed some light...
In the 1881 census for Salford, there are a family of Brownhills living at Regent Road, which include:
Lucy Cawley Brownhill, age 12.
She was listed as daughter of Stephen Brownhill b. 1834 and Sarah (Heaton) Brownhill b. 1838, married 1858.
I can't find a record of a birth or death for Lucy Cawley Brownhill or any other Lucy Brownhill's.I only found about 4 Lucy Heaton's in the Free bmd search online. So it doesn't seem like a Brownhill or Heaton family name.
But there is a record of birth of a Lucy Emma Cawley, b. 1870 Birkenhead.
There was a Helen Brownhill listed at the same address, age 14.Again, not a family name, but the census did not include the Cawley middle name for this daughter.
Is anyone missing early records of their Lucy Cawley? Is it possible she stayed with this family at that time when parents emigrated, and followed on later?
